In this extraordinary time, nurturing a sense of normalcy is vital in keeping a well mind, body, and spirit. Acknowledging that it is a privilege to be able to safely stay at home should be our grounding. And while we are at it, we need to constantly seek ways to keep ourselves proactive, engaged, and inspired.
Here are some helpful tips we have gathered from our team who are currently working from home and are keeping it light and hopeful in the very strange time of Corona:
Give Back and Give Yourself a Break from the Excessive Consumption
Society glorifying the hustle and bustle of what the city has to offer can be desensitizing sometimes and makes you vulnerable to mindless consumption and materialism- acquiring things you don’t really need and that don’t really make you happy. During this period, declutter your home and work environment. Recycle as much as possible and assess what could be donated to charity. There are many available organizing hacks online that could definitely help you conquer this feat!
Research about established charities and foundations that you would like to support as well. A lot of them provide bank details for donations so you get to help out without having to leave your home.

Practicing Daily Affirmation and Meditation
Affirmations are not only for manifesting a specific goal. They’re meant to encourage a life filled with positivity and gratitude. A daily 15-minute practice helps to keep the small things in perspective. In this fast-paced world, you can easily lose sight of how large the small things really are and how much you appreciate it. Best to set it in the early morning, where your mind is calm and your surrounding is free of external noise- may it be in your bedroom or in your garden.
For daily meditation, try downloading the Calm app.

Utilizing Unused Spaces in Your Home
In a typical Filipino household, may it be a townhouse or a studio, every bit of space counts. There are creative ways to maximize extra square footage without drastically changing the footprint of your home such as utilizing that awkward space under your stairs, that long wall along your entrance door, or that niche in your living area.Think about a hobby or activities that you would want to have a dedicated space in your home for such as your collection of photographs, books which could be conversation starters when entertaining guests, or something that could serve as a daily reminder to stay calm, grateful, and inspired no matter the circumstance.

Enriching, Engaging, and Elevating
Take this privilege of staying at home as a time for self-growth. Sign up for online classes (see list below), watch those films you have always wanted to watch, get lost in books you have always wanted to read, create art or learn art, cook up a storm, learn a new language, play the piano, sing your heart out, dance like nobody’s watching. Take this present moment and make it enriching, engaging, and elevating to one’s soul.
We are all in this together. We will all make it through.
